I don’t like year-in-review posts. That’s why I’m taking a different approach.

In 2008:

That made 4,803,618 pageviews.
Totaling 11,488,175 hits.
I was linked to by 2,285 unique domains.

I made 481 icons.
I created 3671 Photoshop files.
I served 39 clients.
I sent 63 invoices.
I sent 82 estimates.
3 devices by electronics brands were shipped with my icons.
I received 10734 (excluding spam) emails.
I sent 3448 emails.
I generated 561.4 MB worth of chat logs.
I wrote 59 blog posts.
You all made 761 (roughly) comments on my blog.

And the best of all;
I bought 1 studio.
I redesigned 3 personal websites.

I wish you all the very best for 2009!

  1. Congratulations on the studio. I hope you do twice as well in 2009 and wish you all the best.

Max, I simply used spotlight (I use my Mac Pro to store all my files now) to filter all PSD files created between 1-1-2008 and 31-12-2008 and counted the results :)

  3. Sounds like it has been one hell of a year for you Sebastiaan. Lets hope 2009 is even better!

  4. And, the very best to you, as well.

Love your work. Congratulations. May you have a wonderful 2009.

Any chance you can write blog posts on your origins, i.e. what drove you into this field, how you got into icon design, when you first got interested in icon design, what keeps you motivated, etc.

It’s just that after seeing some cool people like you, who go after their dreams and courageously keep working on what their passionate about, that I start to think that I’m in a wrong and soulless field. Making me feel bad for myself. Would be fun to get an idea what is going on in your head and what keeps you going. Just an idea.
